This program supports the national government’s objectives towards greater financial inclusion, through partnerships with eligible organizations that help bring selected banking services in places where banks are not accessible. READ MORETupi Mayor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. and spouse Mrs. Rochelle Tamayo (fourth and fifth from left) pose with LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo (third from left), Executive Vice President for Branch Banking Liduvino Geron (left-most), and First Vice President for East Mindanao Branches Group Camilo Leyba (fifth from right). With them are Tupi Branch Head Mary Beth Kalabud (second from left), Vice Mayor Noel Escobillo (third from right) and other Tupi LGU officials. Tupi, South Cotabato Mayor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. and LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo led the inauguration of the Bank’s new branch in Tupi located at the Municipal Hall Compound in Barangay Poblacion. This was Mrs. Borromeo’s first branch inauguration since she re-joined LANDBANK as its President and CEO last March 1. “The opening of this new branch forms part of our aggressive thrust to expand our network as we seek to bring banking services closer to our clients,” said Borromeo. LANDBANK Tupi Branch is the first commercial bank in the municipality, and is the Bank’s 10th in the province. This brings its nationwide branch network to 398, which is targeted to reach 410 by the end of the year – with 12 more new branches in the pipeline. Digitization thrust In line with LANBANK’s commitment to provide accessible and responsive customer service, Borromeo said among the Bank’s priority thrusts this year is to improve branch operations through digitization. Part of the Bank’s efforts towards digitization is the implementation of the Digital Onboarding System (DOBS), a web application it launched in 2018 that enables clients to accomplish account enrolment forms online, thereby shortening account opening time. Within four months of implementation, DOBS is now utilized in 104 of the Bank’s branches across the country which reported significant reduction in account opening time from 30 minutes to 10-15 minutes. The Bank targets full implementation of DOBS Phase 1 to all its branches by third quarter of the year. DOBS Phase 2 will link the system to the Bank’s website which will allow individual (including Overseas Filipinos) and institutional clients to fill out account opening forms and upload IDs and documents online, prior to proceeding to the branch to complete the account opening process. The implementation of DOBS makes LANDBANK the first universal bank in the country that offers this service to both individual and institutional clients, including government agencies. Borromeo further urged the local government of Tupi and other clients of the branch to avail of the LANDBANK Link.Biz Portal, especially this tax payment season. Link.Biz Portal is an electronic payment facility that allows payment for taxes, application fees, and other dues and charges in government and non-government institutions. “These are just some of our initiatives but we will continue to make the best use of technology to streamline our processes, improve operational efficiency, and provide our clients with faster, safer and more convenient service,” Borromeo added.

LANDBANK’s BUILDERS program was awarded “Best SME Product” at The Asian Banker’s Philippine Country Awards 2016. The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with the Philippine International Banking Convention at the Shangri-La at the Fort, Bonifacio Global City. The Bringing Urbanization and Innovations thru LANDBANK’s Diverse Engineering Resource Support or BUILDERS program provides business loans to SMEs in the local construction market. It forms part of the Bank’s contribution to the Public-Private Partnership projects of the national government by extending credit support to private and public sector players in the industry. “This award is an affirmation of what we at LANDBANK are doing to help the SME sector and other major development players, whom we consider as allies in promoting economic growth. Through the BUILDERS program, we help contribute to the government’s thrust to promote inclusive growth through infrastructure development and also help create jobs in the process,” said LANDBANK Officer-in-Charge Cecilia C. Borromeo. Launched in 2014, the program crossed the billion-mark just a year after it was launched, with the bank’s SME loan book and deposits recording double-digit growth in the same year. As of June 2016, the program generated roughly one-third or 29% of the outstanding revenue of the Bank’s SME business with loan releases amounting to P19.6 billion lent to 230 contractors. This helped fund various projects, including farm-to-market roads and bridges, telecommunications infrastructure, residential units, commercial buildings, sanitary landfills, water and sewerage systems, sea walls, among other development projects. The Asian Banker Philippine Country Awards recognizes the most outstanding financial products, services, and organizations in the country and forms part of the prestigious awards programmes ran by The Asian Banker, covering the full spectrum of topics and areas that constitute the financial services industry. LANDBANK also bagged both the first and second places in the inaugural Talent Bank Philippines 2016 held as part of the Philippine Country Awards. The LANDBANK Operations Sector Chorale got the top prize with their all-original a cappella arrangement. They will be representing the Philippines to compete in the Talent Bank Asia at The Asian Banker Summit 2017 in Singapore. Prospero de Vera III lead the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) Program. With them were (L-R) Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU) Vice President Elena E. Presnedi, UniFAST OIC Executive Director Atty. Carmelita Yadao-Sison, and LANDBANK Branch Banking Sector OIC, Senior Vice President Ramon R. Monteloyola. In line with its thrust of extending access to formal banking services, the Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) has partnered with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) to provide efficient and convenient financial support to poor but deserving students. LANDBANK President and CEO Cecilia C. Borromeo and CHED and UniFAST Governing Board Chairman J. Prospero de Vera III formally signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to co-implement the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) Program last December 27 at the Centro Escolar University in Manila. Under the TES Program, more than 400,000 student-grantees from public and private higher education institutions nationwide will be issued LANDBANK Cash Cards for their monthly stipends to cover expenses for supplies, transportation, room and board, and other personal and school needs. The collaboration is aligned with LANDBANK’s continuous commitment to promote financial inclusion and widen access to banking facilities by reaching more underserved Filipinos all over the country. “Through the use of our LANDBANK Cash Cards, students will enjoy the ease and convenience of receiving their monthly allowances via our automated teller machines (ATMs) and branches nearest them. More importantly, this ensures the safe and efficient delivery of their stipends for school needs and education-related expenses on time and without any delays,” President Borromeo said. Student-beneficiaries under the TES Program will be able to access their allowances via LANDBANK’s network of 2,195 ATMs and 409 branches nationwide, as well as point-of-sale (POS) facilities. In addition, student-beneficiaries are qualified to use LANDBANK’s phone banking and online banking facilities and services for easier and faster financial transactions. “Rest assured that we will do our share to make this Program successful. We are one with CHED and UniFAST in helping provide inclusive and quality education that will help shape the lives of the country’s future generations,” President Borromeo added. LANDBANK will receive the list of student-beneficiaries from UniFAST, which includes beneficiaries under the ongoing Expanded Students’ Grant-in-Aid Program for Poverty Alleviation (ESGP-PA) and students belonging to poor or near-poor households based on the Listahanan 2.0 of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), among others. The TES Program forms part of the implementation of Republic Act 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.
